Keeping your iPhone dry

As the owner of two hyperactive rescue dogs, I have to walk them for 2-3 hours per day, every day, rain or shine.

I purchased a head-to-toe rainproof outfit and shoes, both of which work well enough at keeping the water out, but still have the problem of my iPhone; I occasionally get important calls when I’m out in a thunderstorm and need to interact with it beyond the capabilities of the earbud remote (to check the calendar or reference an e-mail, for instance).

My solution has been to keep the iPhone in a Ziploc bag, but after seeing Sanwa’s Waterproof bag for iPhone/iPod, I’ll look into getting one. The $34 item allows you to interact with the touchscreen and features a seal at the one point of entry, the headphone port, that keeps the elements out. You can wear it on an armband or on a lanyard around your neck, and while it surely looks silly, during a thunderstorm function is king.
