If you have lots of medications that you take this DIY Automatic Medication Dispenser by Jan Wante. There are enough compartments that you would not need to stock it very often. You would probably need to contact Jan for the code and a larger schematic since I don’t think either are posted in his article.

UPDATE: Thanks to Jan for sending in a full size schematic, it has been added below.

“The ‘machine’ has seven drums (one for each day of the week) with 4 compartments that you can fill with your medication. When filled, you put them back in the machine and connect them to it. On the front of the machine is a lcd-screen and 2 buttons. There you can set the time and date and program when you need the medication. When it is time for your medication, the machine drops the correct pills and sounds an alarm until you take the pills and push a button. After that it goes back to “sleep” until the next alarm.”

“Here’s how it works:

• The uC waits for a button press, then flashes the LED to let you know it’s ready for the first number
• You press the doorbell multiple times until the first number has been reached, then wait for the next LED flash… repeat
• Once all the digits are entered the uC checks for the proper code and opens the door (or flashes if you didn’t get it right)
• The code can be changed by pressing a button on the circuit board (button will flash continuously). The new code is then entered the same way as above, stored in EEPROM, and read back to you in a series of blinks.”

This is simultaneously awesome, nutty, and a bit confusing: A UK-based company called Studio Myfirst has created a flat-pack DIY rotation molding machine called Myfirst RotoMoulder.

The awesome and nutty part is that they made it in the first place and are selling it for roughly US $322; the confusing part is that what you can actually do with it is poorly documented–it’s not clear if you can only make the part using the mold they’ve included, or if you can insert your own molds, and if so, where or how you might make such a mold.
